How to Increase Your Collaborative Cases – General Membership Meeting

Do you want to increase your Collaborative cases? Learn how to create opportunities to generate cases and expand your referral sources. Acquire strategies to effectively describe the benefits of engaging in a Collaborative divorce process to potential clients and/or referral sources. Learn how to identify opportunities to be inclusive with other Collaborative professionals so that we as a community can expand the community of highly experienced Collaborative professionals and make Collaborative Practice available as a preferred dispute resolution option for individuals and families.

Speakers: Edward Sachs, CPA , Eric Sachs, Fernanda Pedroso, Esq., and Helenann Shapiro, LCSW

Helenann Shapiro, LCSW is a psychotherapist and a Florida Supreme Court Family Mediator who has been practicing in Miami, Florida for twenty five years. Ms. Shapiro has been a specialist with Family Court Services of the 11th Judicial Circuit since 1992, assisting countless number of families through the divorce process. Additionally, she is the Director of Esperance Counseling Services since 2000. Areas of specialty include high conflict divorce, parenting coordination, co-parenting, marriage counseling, infidelity, alienation/reunification, collaborative family law, and individual/family therapy. Ms. Shapiro serves on the 11th Circuit Parenting Coordination Collaborative Committee and has lectured extensively for local and national organizations addressing various topics involving high conflict divorce, infidelity, parenting coordination, collaborative family law and bullying. Since 2002, Ms. Shapiro has been a liaison for Kidside, a charitable organization that helps low-income families who are in crisis in the family court system. Ms. Shapiro was the recipient of the first annual Kidside Honorable Judge Maxine Cohen Lando Award in 2013. Ms. Shapiro is an accredited collaborative family law professional who serves on the board of the Collaborative Family Law Institute.

Fernanda Pedroso is an attorney at EHB Family & Collaborative Law, having joined the firm in May 2015. Mrs. Pedroso practices exclusively in the area of Family and Collaborative law. Her experience and approach to family law matters provides clients with efficient and effective resolutions that promote the best interest of her clients the family as a whole. She believes families are better served when they are encouraged to find common ground rather than turning their lives into a battleground. Mrs. Pedroso is a Florida trained collaborative attorney and actively promotes this branch of family law in the community. She is a board member of the Collaborative Family Law Professionals of South Florida, co-chair of the 17 th Judicial Circuit’s Collaborative Pro Bono Project and co-chair of IDEA committee for the FACP. Her involvement with these groups seeks to educate the community as a whole on the benefits of individuals and families handling their family law matters within the Collaborative Process.

Edward Sachs is a Certified Public Accountant and Accredited Collaborative Professional. After 25 years of representing spouses in litigated divorces, in 2016, Mr. Sachs opened his own accounting practice dedicated to the Collaborative Process and other alternatives to litigation in settling financial issues in divorce and business. Ed is a Past President of the Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals (FACP) and is a member of three practice groups in Miami-Dade, Broward, and South Palm Beach counties. He currently serves as the President of My Collaborative Team, the not-for-profit publisher of the #1 distributed weekly Collaborative Family Law Newsletter in North America. Mr. Sachs has trained countless professionals throughout Florida in the Collaborative Process and has taught Collaborative Ethical Standards for the past three years at the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals Annual Forum. He currently serves as Co-chair of the Credentialing Committee of FACP. Mr. Sachs has had more than 40 Collaborative cases.
